The 2024/25 MTN8 KICKS OFF:



Betway Premiership teams came back from a lengthy FIFA international break which saw European teams competing in UEFA  Euros (which saw Spain lifting the trophy after defeating England in the final) and Copa America respectively (which was won by Argentina after beating Colombia to lift the trophy)

On the other side of Africa in the Southern region notable teams Such as Mamelodi Sundowns , Orlando Pirates and TS Galaxy had stellar pre-season performances. 

Soweto Giants Orlando Pirates were a team that had better pre-season performances from which they recorded a 2-2 draw against EFL championship side Plymouth Argyle ,a shocking 2-0 win against LaLiga side Sevilla, 1-1 draw against Granada which also plays in LaLiga then suffered a 3-2 loss Qatari side Al Sadd in their   final pre-season match.

The record breaking and the only team to win the DSTV Premiership since DSTV started sponsoring the league till a new sponsor was announced last week (Betway Premiership).In the first 2 games ,Mamelodi Sundowns produced results that were poor than what they are know for. Masandawana started with a 2-1 loss against German side SV Sandhausen ,1-0 loss to Ukranian side Dinamo Kyiv ,1-1 draw with Cardiff City ,impressive 3-0 win against Al Arabi followed lastly by an impressive 2-1 win against Neymar Jr side Al-Hilal.

Kaizer Chiefs is one of the teams that most people are anticipating that they will yield good results with the club having roped in highly rated coach Nasredine Nabi. The Phefeni boys were beaten 4-0 by Young Africans in the inaugural Toyota Cup at the Toyota stadium on Sunday 28 July 2024. And also wouldn't be taking part in the 2024/25 MTN8 edition as they finished 11th of DSTV premiership log last season.

The Rockets (TS Galaxy) had an impressive pre-season as they pulled a shocking 2-1 win over Bundesliga's Augsburg to lift the Mpumalanga Premier's Cup.

The 2024/25 MTN8 kicks of this Saturday 03 August with the defending champions Pirates against Supersport ,followed by Stellenbosch Vs TS Galaxy on Sunday 04 August ,Sekhukhune Vs Cape Town City on Saturday 10th of August and then Sundowns up against Polokwane City on Sunday 11th of August to see who will book their places in the Semi-final.

Who will win the 2024/25 MTN8 ? Will Pirates win it for the third consecutive time or will there be a new winner?
