Chelsea were not able to get maximum points and close the gap between them and leaders Liverpool after they were held to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park yesterday by Everton.
A win yesterday for Chelsea would have seen the London club momentarily move to first place in the English Premier League log for less than 3 hours as they would have gotten 37 points if they had won while waiting for the Tottenham and Liverpool results.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca blamed the yesterday draw on his players not being able to finish the chances they've created.
This what coach Enzo Maresca in his post match interviews as reported by Sky Sports:
"We knew it was a tough game in terms of creating chances," Maresca said after the game.
"If you see them in the last game against Arsenal [and] in general, you always struggle to create chances against them.
"For sure, we could attack better but there was not space for Cole [Palmer]. In the last half an hour, we tried to move Enzo [Fernandez] as an attacking midfielder, with Malo [Gusto] next to Moi [Caicedo] to change something
"But overall, in this type of game, knowing you are not going to create too many chances, you have to be clinical. In the firsthalf, we had the Nico [Jackson] one-on-one with the 'keeper, the post from Nico, we had another two or three chances inside the box.
"If you are able to be clinical there and score, then the game is probably different but until that moment, you are going to struggle."
