The new format of the UEFA Champions League had 36 teams across Europe scrapping to qualify for the next round of the tournament.
The final matches of the long log of the new Champions League took place last night. Liverpool, Barcelona, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, LOSC Lille and Aston Villa automatically qualified for the next round of the tournament after finishing in the top 8.
Atalanta, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, PSV, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Monaco, Stade Brestios, Feyenoord, Celtic, Manchester City, Sporting CP and Club Brugge all have to play in the play-offs to see who is able to book a round of 16 spots after finishing from 9th to 24th on the log.
Dinamo Zagreb, VfB Stuttgart, Shakhtar Donetsk, Bologna, Crvena Zvezda, SK Sturm Graz, Sparta Praha, RB Leipzig, Girona, RB Salzburg, SK Slovan Bratislava and BSC Young Boys are all eliminated from the tournament after finishing from 25th to 36th.
