CAPE TOWN CITY RELEGATED TO THE NFD!
Cape Town City were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after losing their match day 3 of the Premier Soccer League promotional/relegation play-offs against Orbit College FC earlier on today at the Olympia Park stadium.
The match ended with 1-0 scoreline courtesy of a goal scored by former Marumo Gallants striker Letsie Koapeng in the second half to see Orbit gain promotion to the Betway Premier League joining Durban City FC.
Orbit finished the mini-log standings with 8 points after 4 matches while City have a chance to finish the play-offs with 5 points going into the last play-offs encounter against Casric Stars this coming Saturday at the DHL stadium. Casric can also finish with 5 points as they equal on points (2) with City.
The North West province will now have a first tier football club since the now-defunct Platinum Stars were relegated in 2018. The Western Cape province now sees their second consecutive team relegated in consecutive season having seen Cape Town Spurs relegated in the 2023/24 season.
