CAPE TOWN TEAMS WANT TO PURCHASE PSL STATUSES!
The 2024/25 season was a bad one for the Western Cape province as it had two of their big teams relegated from the first and second tier. Cape Town City FC and Cape Town Spurs both suffered relegation from their respective leagues in their 2024/25 season.
Spurs were the most unfortunate side suffering their consecutive relegation having been relegated from the Betway Premier League to the Motsepe Foundation Championship in the 2023/24 season then from Motsepe Foundation Championship to the ABC Motsepe League last season.
City on the other hand suffered relegation for the first time in their history this week losing out in the promotion/relegation play-offs to Orbit College FC.
With City and Spurs relegated, They are both trying to get back where they were last season as they are planning to purchase their way back. Cape Town City FC chairman John Comitis has revealed that he wants to buy a status of any team participating in the Betway Premier League while Spurs are looking to buy one in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Will both or either one of the Western Cape sides succeed in their plans?
