WILL THE CITIZENS GET RELEGATED TODAY?
On paper, Betway Premier League side Cape Town City FC still has two chance of saving their top flight status. City will play Motsepe Foundation Championship runners-up Orbit College FC today at the Olympia Park stadium for the second time in the Premier Soccer League promotional/relegation play-offs.
City played Orbit for the first in over a week ago at the DHL stadium but walked away with a point after a 0-0 draw. The Citizens' next encounter after their match with Orbit at the DHL was followed by an away fixture against another Championship side in Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu stadium where they also failed to win with their encounter ending with a 1-1 draw.
Orbit College became the first side to win a match in these play-offs beating Casric at the Solomon Mahlangu stadium last Saturday to move top of the mini-log standings with 5 points while City and Stars remained on 2 points each.
Should Orbit College beat Cape Town City today that will mean the Western Cape side has been eliminated from the Betway Premier League for the first time since they were formed in 2016. A draw or win for City will still keep their hopes of survival alive going into the last match of the play-offs this coming Saturday at the DHL stadium against Casric Stars.
Will the Citizens get relegated today or will they be able save their status in their last fixtures.
