ERIK LAMELA HANGS HIS BOOTS AT 33!
Another professional football player in Erik Lamela has decided to call it time to his football playing career ending a 17-year playing career.
The winger started his playing career at Argentine giants River Plate playing for the under-20 side in 2008 before being promoted to the senior team the following year (2009). He spent 2 and half years as River Plate's first team player before joining Italian side AS Roma in 2011 on a €17M transfer.
Lamela played 2 seasons at Roma before catching the attention of English side Tottenham Hotspur who broke their bank and landed him on a €30M transfer. Lamela's time at Spurs didn't yield him good results as he failed to win the club a trophy in his 8 season stay.
He moved to Sevilla in 2021 on a free transfer. His journey at Sevilla tendered from the year 2021 until the beginning of last season where he joined Greeks side AEK Athens where he also decided to retire.
It has been reported that Lamela will join Sevilla this time as an assistant coach to get his first experience in coaching.
